Finally the waiting days are over. The new Apple Mac OS X Lion has been just released today and alongside Mac OS X Lion, the new Apple MacBook Air 2011 has also been released. Apple launched the new Apple MacBook Air 2011 in two models covering both the 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch sizes.

As it was already being anticipated, the new models are based on Intel Sandy Bridge platform, sport Thunderbolt connectivity for peripherals and witness the come back of backlit keyboards. The new Apple MacBook Air 2011 are currently being offered in the following configurations:

Apple MacBook Air 11.6 inches models

- 1.6GHz with 64GB SSD and 2GB RAM for $999
- 1.6GHz with 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM for $1199

Apple MacBook Air 13.3 inches models

- 1.7GHz with 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM for $1299
- 1.7GHz with 256GB SSD and 4GB RAM for $1599
Build to order customers can also choose to upgrade to a 1.8 GHz processor and additional solid-state storage. With up to twice the performance of the previous generation, flash storage for instant-on responsiveness and a compact design so portable you can take it everywhere, the MacBook Air starts at $999 (US) and is available for order today and in stores tomorrow.

Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller, claims:
Portable, affordable and powerful, MacBook Air is the ultimate everyday notebook. MacBook Air features our most advanced technology and is an ideal match for Lion, especially with its new Multi-Touch gestures, full-screen apps, Mission Control and Mac App Store.
The Battery life for new Apple notebooks is listed to be 5 to 7 hours. The new MacBook Air models are available for order today and will be available in stores tomorrow. All models ship with OS X Lion pre installed.
