Google has now started rolling out the new Gingerbread Android 2.3.6 update (Build: GRK39F) for Google Nexus One smartphone.

The Nexus One was Google’s first flagship Android smartphone, released back in early 2010. Predecessor to the Google Nexus S, Google Nexus One is an almost obsolete device. Still this new Android Gingerbread 2.3.6 update is a good news for all the users currently using Google Nexus One smartphone.


However, Android 2.3.6 is a minor update containing few security and performance enhancements alongwith some bug fixes.

Step 1: Please download the new Android 2.3.6 Update (GRK39F).

Step 2: Rename the downloaded file to update.zip

Step 3: Connect your Google Nexus One to your computer and transfer update.zip to the root of microSD memory card on the phone.
Please note that file must be copied on the root and not inside any folder.

Srep 4: Please turn off your Nexus One phone for a moment.

Step 5: Now keep the Volume Down button pressed and then turn on the Andriod phone. Scroll down to recovery and press the power/lock button.

Step 6: Now you should be able to now see a triangle with an exclamation mark. Please press Power + Volume Down button.

Step 7: Please select sdcard:update.zip from the menu that will appear on the screen, untill you see a message saying install from sdcard is completed.

Step 8: Finally, reboot your Google Nexus One smartphone. After reboot your device will be updated.
The Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Update is now installed and ready to use on your phone.
