After Android 4.3 Jelly Bean launch with Nexus 7.2 tablet, and Android 4.4 Kitkat announcement, it's high time to discuss next Android 5.0 Lime Pie Release Date.

We have also provided a complete roundup of Android 5.0 Features for our readers, previously.

It was generally believed that new Google Android 5 Lime Pie is coming out with Nexus 5 phone packed with enhanced usability and improved performance.

However, Google decided to close the year 2013 with a short intermediate update on the name of Android 4.4 Kitkat, saving the good next generation Android 5.0 Release for 2014.

Android 4.3 update was medium sized software upgrade that was welcomed. However, it was not the Android update users were looking for. Especially, with Apple iOS7 Release along with new iPhone 5S, Android 5.0 seems to be the next logical move for the Google on the Android track.

Android 5.0 Lime Pie Release Date 2014

When the beta build of 4.3 was first discovered it was thought to be Lime Pie based on the significance of what it brings to the table, until the code letters of its build name revealed it to be yet another Jelly Bean release. This put a number of Android fans in despair, who had been hoping to see Android 5 Lime Pie arrive sooner.

Android 5.0 Lime Pie Release Date

Given that Google announced Android jelly bean at the IO conference June last year, some expert were expecting Android 5 LP released date between May 15 and 17 at Google I/O conference 2013.

But instead of Android 5.0, Google come up with some tweaks in Android Jelly Bean. During the conference Google also make announcement concerning the experimental Google Glass Release into the market.

In April 2013, there were again some so-called leaked that an Android Lime Pie is coming out in July. But we didn't pay much heed to these rumors, as Google decided to delay Android 5.0 Lime pie for another year months to allow hardware manufacturers enough time to properly roll out Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates on their devices.

A couple of months later, "Android Police" has noted in its server logs, some Google employees running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but not the Android 5.0 Lime Pie. In September 2013, Google officially announced Android 4.4 Kitkat update.

Of course, a big new software release deserves some great hardware on which to deliver it with a bang. There’s no word yet as to which existing third party Android hardware devices will be 5.0 compatible. But the most optimistic release date for Android Lime Pie is now the fourth quarter of 2013 at the earliest. That points to Android 5.0 seeing a release date in Q4 2014 at best.

However, with new Nexus 5 smartphone coming out with Android 4.4, Google has kept its tradition of using new devices to peddle next Android version.

Since, Google Galaxy Nexus was unveiled in November, the Nexus S in December and the famous Google Nexus 4 at the end of October. We can confidently expect new Android 4.4 kit kat coming out with Nexus 5 handset in the latter part of 2013. An Android 5.0 Release Date will essentially follow the same pattern, more specifically going between the end of October and mid of November, 2014.
