After Android 4.3 Jelly Bean launch with Nexus 7 2013 tablet, Android 4.4 Kitkat is coming out with new Nexus 5 Phone along with new Nexus 8 and Nexus 11 tablet.

However, there are analysts that believe instead Nexus 5, Google will release the 2nd generation of Nexus 4 2013 smartphones featuring Android Kit kat, like it did for tablet update. In either case Android 4.4 Kitkat release date is inevitably in October - November 2013.

Next Android 4.4 update will be a relatively rudimentary one, but it will still add fuel to the fire in iOS 7 vs Android battle, before Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie finally hit the market with next generation features and upgrades.


Google officially announced that the next Android OS release, the Android 4.4 update will to be named Android Kitkat, as every Android software version is named after a dessert. The previous versions had been named Android Cupcake, Android Donut, Android Eclair, Android Froyo, Android Honeycomb, Android Ice cream Sandwich and Android Jelly bean.

Earlier news had indicated that Google were to release Android 5.0 KLP, the next generation of their flagship OS but this news have been temporarily eclipsed with the Android 4.4 update announcement.

The Android 4.4 update release date has been rumored for October 2013. Some sources like Ausdroid claim that Android Kitkat launch date is October 14th, but have nothing solid to back this claim.

Android Kit Kat Facebook page suggests that the Android 4.4 update will be made available at some point in October. The comments, first discovered by "The Unwired", are interesting because Google has not announced amy Android 4.4 release date officially, so far.

However, if you look at the Android Release timelines below, you will observe that there has always been a new Android update
around October-November every year.

Little is known about the Android 4.4 KitKat update though rumors suggest that it could bring updates for older devices, fragmentation changes including screen resizing, Miracast updates, color changes and new notification widgets.

However, Google is expected to Android 4.4 with some new features as well sure to make the Android experience even more exciting.
  1. Some of the existing features sure to make up Kitkat include a beautifully immersed and multi sensory experience similar to Kitkat bar perfection.

  2. Full improvements and upgrade on battery are a must with Kitkat to increase performance, security features will also be bolstered by the near perfection of Kitkat’s symmetry.

  3. In terms of processing power, Android 4.4 Kitkat will be virtually weightless to ensure it is lighter that the previous Android versions, this will essentially increase its efficiency.

  4. Google has been working with Linux 3.8 Kernel for the purpose of trying to ensure even optimized usage of the RAM for the purpose of making Android be a smartphone OS for all devices.

  5. Android 4.4 Kitkat will also feature Battery improvements and optimizations or Androids in built power saving mode. Adjustable orientation that works perfectly in either a landscape or portrait orientation is sure to be added to add a panoramic taste experience .

  6. Google Drive functions are also rumored to be in the offing to offer a more separate and reliable Android cloud system for multiple devices.

  7. There has been lots of complains over the past years about the vulnerability of Android OS as they are extremely vulnerable to malware attacks and hacking attacks. Improved security features =are one of the matters that Google will need to address with Android Kit kat release.

  8. Performance profiles will also need to be bolstered to ensure users are able to alter performance levels to save on battery life or be able to boost CPU speeds when performing highly demanding and complicated tasks.
