ATV3: Jailbreak Apple TV 3rd Generation Status Update

The jailbreakers at FireCore has posted "State of the ATV3 Jailbreak" in one of their blog post that:
As you may recall we were very optimistic about the ATV3 when it originally launched back in March, and while this optimism remains unchanged it’s clear things have not progressed as quickly as anyone would have liked. The biggest hurdle that has yet to be overcome is also the most essential – the jailbreak. While we tend to think of ourselves as pretty resourceful, the security related expertise that is required in order to release a jailbreak for iOS based devices like the ATV is just not in our wheelhouse, and we’re simply left to encourage the capable few as best we can. No one is more anxious than us to get the ATV3 opened up to 3rd party apps, but due to the reasons mentioned above we’re not able to provide any kind of release timeline right now.
FireCore makes a piece of software called aTV Flash that is used to gain access to scores of extra services and features once an Apple TV is jailbroken. A free tool called Seas0nPass is used to jailbreak the Apple TV with a desktop computer, while aTV Flash is a $30 download. Many prefer to jailbreak the Apple TV in order to install third-party apps and enhancements that Apple doesn’t support out of the box, like access to live ESPN broadcasts.

Apple TV 3 was released in the first quarter of 2012 and it is expected from Apple to release an ATV update again in 2013. But despite of year lapse the current ATV3 jailbreak remains out of possibility due to technical challenges involved.

FireCore a group of very talented and highly technical geeks working on to find some security hole in Apple TV 3 OS through which they can infiltrate and exploit to Jailbreak for the 3rd generation Apple TV.

At JailbreakCon 2012, Kevin Bradley (known as nitoTV) has claimed that there is some progress has been made with the injection vector, but later the hope was lost when the possibility was found not useful. This show that level of expertise and resources required to crack the new Apple TV 3 is indeed very hight. There are very few geeks in the world with the technical knowledge and skill level to exploit iOS, and the ones that do are either currently looking into it the best they can or are not interested spending their time developing a ATV3 Jailbreak. As FireCore posted:
While we tend to think of ourselves as pretty resourceful, the security related expertise that is required in order to release a jailbreak for iOS based devices like the ATV is just not in our wheelhouse, and we’re simply left to encourage the capable few as best we can. No one is more anxious than us to get the ATV3 opened up to 3rd party apps, but due to the reasons mentioned above we’re not able to provide any kind of release timeline right now.
