Boogie Boards Writing Tablets Review

No other product in the world creates a natural pen on paper experience like the Boogie Board eWriters. These boards are a tool for talking and are a great device to give people with no voice a way of communicating. The Sync is just like any other Boogie Board except that it can record and store your pen strokes. This means that you can't erase a line (just like pen & paper) and you can't "load" a note on the device that you previously saved. The Boogie Board isn't a "screen" or display like an iPad or other tablet, which is part of the reason it works so well.

Boogie Board Jot 8.5 Review

The durable, ultra-lightweight LCD writing screen is engineered to feel just like writing with a pen on paper. The image stays as long as you need it to and can be erased with the touch of a button. Create again and again, without the need to charge or connect. The Boogie Board Jot 8.5 LCD e-writer comes with a pressure-sensitive LCD surface that quickly registers accurate pen strokes remarkably. It eliminates the need for paper, scratch pads, and sticky notes. You can simply write and erase things. The notes stay as long as you need them and can be erased with the touch of a button. It cannot be a complete replacement to traditional methods of writing unless it offers some techniques to preserve the work but can work as a good To-do list manager. Made of shatter-proof plastic, the Reflex LCD is ultra-thin and light. It also provides a writing experience similar to pen and paper.

Boogie Board Jot 8.5 Review

The Boogie Board Jot 8.5" is a thin LCD-equipped tablet that you can draw or write on and erase at will. You can then save your notes or sketches to your smartphone or tablet with a free companion app. You can't erase specific parts of a drawing or note, and we experienced some issues with scanning and saving in the app in our testing. But for just $29.99, the Jot is a fun and affordable way to scribble digital notes or sketches. The Boogie Board Jot 8.5 is a fun way to sketch out quick doodles and ideas, and I like the ability to leave a drawing up so people can pass by and comment, but the companion app needs improvements. Finicky scanning is the only way to save images, and the resulting files give you little to work with in case you want to edit them. There is a compact Jot Pocket  4.5" version also available in $19.99

Scribble n' Play Review

Boogie Board Scribble n Play includes the same features of the traditional Boogie Board Jot 8.5. Yet the writing surface allows doodlers and creative geniuses to scribble and doodle with a rainbow effect. Four different styluses, each with different drawing tips, are easy and exciting for the kids. Styluses are attached to the corners of the eWriter. Boogie Board Scribble n' Play can be used for many educational activities like spelling words and solving math problems, besides doodling and creative designing. It has a darker colored screen, tech feeling erase button and easy moving stylus. It costs $29.99

Play N' Trace Review

The $34.99 Boogie Board Play n Trace comes in unique painting palette shape. While it might not be as vibrant as the black-screened Boogie Boards, the Play N' Trace has a special "clearview" surface. Play N' Trace screen is specialized for n tracing activities to allow kids to trace with ease and fun. Children can use it for tracing letters, numbers, and creating mazes. Additional, themed activity cards and re-usable clinging sheets can be purchased separately and placed at the bottom of the e-writer for added fun.

Best eWriter

Boogie board makes an device for work and art at home and office. It also makes an excellent gift for a loved one. However, following factors should be considered when buying a Boogie Board:
  • Size: The size of the boogie board is very important. You shouldn’t get a small sized board only to find out that it doesn’t actually fit what you want to right. Secondly, don’t get a big boogie board that you won’t be able to easily carry around.
  • Compatibility: An ideal boogie board should be compatible with both Mac and Windows. This way, you can easily transfer and share your writings with your computer for further editing and viewing. You should also purchase a board that features syncing and sharing.
  • Battery: The battery capacity should be adequate enough so that it serves you for a good period of time. You shouldn’t purchase a board that will die up only after some hours of charging.
  • Design: The design is an essential factor that you should also consider. If you are getting one for yourself, make sure you stick to something sleek and elegant. If you are buying it as a gift for your friend or loved one then know his/her taste and get them something close to that. If it’s for a child, make sure that the design will appeal to him/her.
The original Boogie Board is $29.99, and the Boogie Board Jot is $39.99. Aside from the price, there are other differences between the two models. The largest difference is that the original Boogie Board has a lifespan of 50,000 erases, and then it’s done. The battery is non-replaceable. The Boogie Board Jot not only has the same lifespan, but the battery is replaceable for it so you can use it over and over again. Now it’s not like those 50,000 erases take a few weeks or even a few months, it takes a few years. The Boogie Board Jot also has a hold button. When this button is in use, the screen cannot be erased.

The original Boogie Board has no such button. The original Boogie Board comes in a variety of colors, Pink, Black, White, Red, Green, and Blue. It also comes in Soccer, Camo, and Floral themes. This gives you as well as the children you may be buying for a lot of choices to choose from to make their Boogie Board truly feel like their own. The Boogie Board Jot has only three colors to choose from, Black, Red, and Blue. The Original Boogie Board came with a stylus-holding clip you could add to your board, as well as magnets you could apply to the back. The new Jot has both already built-in.
