New iPhone 7 will be Waterproof

New Apple iPhone 7 will be waterproof

Last year after Samsung releasing its waterproof Galaxy S5 Apple filed a patent that took its competitor technology a step further called ‘Methods for shielding electronic components from moisture’. The filing describes a way of making the phone waterproof from inside rather than the outside.

Before the filing of Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S plus were tested ahead as a waterproof handsets. Apple is likely to announce the waterproofing as a feature of the iPhone 7 when the handset is released later this year. It is widely rumored that Apple iPhone 7 will be significantly waterproof and dustproof. Waterproofing will presumably come via a simple hydrophobic coating inside and outside of the device. Apple is expected to place a greater emphasis on the health-tracking functionality of its product range in 2016, and waterproofing and dust proofing can play a major role in this process.

The circulating rumors suggest that the iPhone 7 will be waterproof. Nowadays the Apple competitors like Sony, Samsung and other competitors already have their water resistant Smartphone launched in the market. In this situation Apple can’t afford to stay back and not having new waterproofed iPhone device. To stay competitive in technology race the Apple needs to implement this technology to the new upcoming iPhone device. The new iPhone 7 is rumored to be release around September or October, so the company has enough time to work on it.

Normally the available Smartphone are waterproofed to IP67 standards that mean they can resist water for 30 minutes maximum and if submerged within a depth of 1 meter only. This is the maximum time and depth that is specified in IP67 standards however the device may not resist water even for 30 minutes or 1 meter depth.

Samsung, Sony, HTC and Lenovo have number of waterproof Smartphone already available in the market. Few devices that are waterproofed to IP67 standards are Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 compact, Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZR, Sony Xperia Go, Sony Xperia M2 Aqua, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, HTC Butterfly and Lenovo A660.

Almost every new phone of Xperia series and every newly launched phone from Samsung is waterproof so Apple needs to make new iPhone 7 waterproofs to IP67 standards at least. Apple has been ahead of the rivals most of the times when it comes to bring innovation with every new iPhone and if new iPhone 7 could be waterproofed to IP68 standards, it will be a new innovation again. And iPhone 7 will be the first phone having such specification.

The iPhone 7 Water Proof and shatter-proof rumor is quite fascinating and interesting. Apple will certainly come up with the same technology we’ll just have to wait and see whether iPhone 7 water-proof technology is better or not. Stay updated with the upcoming Apple releases in 2016 and feel free to share your views.
