Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Look and Feel Review

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an amazing tablet in two ways. It is the first tablet that is as immaterial as the iPad 2, in form and weight and feel, rather its thinner than iPad. It is not as rigid, not as sturdy or deliberately constructed. Its back is plastic, glossy and thin.

Apple did good, but Samsung did very well. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is sporting better hardware than the iPad 2 in strategic places. The screen is clearer, there is a more powerful processor and it is lighter and thinner than an iPad 2. The iPad 2 weighs 600 grams and the Samsung tablet weighs 595 grams. Remember, the Samsung tablet has a slightly larger screen than the iPad, so it is bigger and lighter. The Samsung is 8.6 millimeters thick and the new iPad is 8.8 millimeters. Samsung proudly calls it the “world’s thinnest tablet”.

The screen for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has 10.1 inches of digital real estate. That is a bit larger than the iPad. Samsung gave their tablet 1280 by 800 pixels of resolution, which is again, better than the 1024 by 768 pixels of the iPad 2. The iPad has a better view from angles, thanks to its IPS ( In Place Switching ) feature. The screen of the Tab 10.1 does not have this.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Thinner Than iPad 2

Like the Motorola Xoom, it is symetrically proportioned in a way convenient to be used in landscape mode.

But it is still the first Android tablet, the first non-iPad tablet to feel the way that tablets should feel. But even if it is exactly the same as the Xoom and every other Android Honeycomb in terms of power, performance, features this is the new Android tablet to buy.
