Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date along with and Galaxy Gear 2 was reported by NYT, when New York Times write that Samsung Galaxy S5 2014 flagship smartphone will see the light of day during a low-key event in Barcelona.


Although most of the Samsung S5 rumors were suggesting that Samsung Unpack Event at MWC 2014 will be about the Galaxy S5 phone, given the prominence of number 5 in the invitation.

New York time came out to be first trusted source to confirm the Samsung S5 launch date. It's note worthy that the news agency have the credit of the scoop for Samsung Galaxy S4 release date too and hence thought to be a close by source to the Korean company.

NYT reported last week that both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Gear 2 will be launched by the Korean company in Barcelona on February 24 in a relatively low profile event, compared to Galaxy S4 launch in Broadway show, last year.
Samsung Galaxy S5 release news has been confirmed by the official Samsung Source, that Samsung galaxy S5 is coming out on February 24 at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.
The invites have been also sent for Samsung Unpacked event at MWC, where firm traditionally revealed new version of its handsets.

There had been a lot of speculations over new Samsung S5 launch date. Most of the Galaxy S5 rumors were touting a mid March release for the device in a separate launch event at London, like the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4. While a few were suggesting that Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014.

However, despite of Samsung Galaxy S5 unveiling on 24th February, the handset will not go on sales before mid March in Korea and then be available worldwide in April, 2014

Some recent Samsung S5 rumor suggest that the company has cut down the new Galaxy S5 TouchWhiz software customizations and instead left it closer to stock Android than TouchWiz, as an understanding between Samsung and Google.

Instead new Samsung S5 handset would have a new 'smart' home screen that changes depending on the users location, or what they are doing.

Similar to the Google Now system, it shows nearby locations as well as information gleaned from apps about what the user is doing. For example, it shows details of their latest run, a flight they plan to catch and text messages from friends.

New York Time confirmed some of the galaxy S5 specification rumors that were making the headlines over the past couple of months. Following are the specs coming out with Samsung Galaxy S5 phone:
  1. 5.24 inch HD Super AMOLED display at 2560×1440 resolution and 560 ppi
  2. 16 MP primary camera, 3.2 MP user-facing camera
  3. Quad-core Snapdragon 805/ Octo-core Exynos 6 CPU (depending on LTE connectivity)
  4. 3GB of RAM
  5. 16GB/ 32GB/ 64 GB of storage
  6. 3,200 mAh battery
  7. Android 4.4.2
Below are the Samsung Galaxy S5 features that were rumored but NOT coming in device specs:
  1. Flexible Display
  2. qHD Display
  3. Iris Scanner
  4. Diamond coating
Samsung is also likely to launch a few variants of its flagship galaxy S5 device much like the last year. It is being touted that there will a metal body variant Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. While the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom and Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini are likely to be launched soon after.
