Oppo is still a small brand name in the US and Europe, but this may change in a few months, as the company plans to launch their new flagship device, the Oppo N1, running CyanogenMod without any ROM changes.

The new Oppo Ni smartphone will come with several extra features, including CyanogenMod stickers and a special N1 case with both CyanogenMod mascot Cid and Oppo mascot Ollie on it.

We have not heard details on the reception for the new device in China, Oppo has some tough competition in their home-region, with Xiaomi and Meizu both bringing out top notch flagship devices at cheap prices.

Oppo N1 phone Release Date, Specs, Price Review with CyanogenMod

In the dense Android universe, we wonder if the Oppo N1, which is already a little outdated in terms of raw specs, is up to the scratch. It does have a 5.9-inch 1080p display for big phablet fans and the weird rotating camera may be exciting enough for some, but the main winning feature here is CyanogenMod out the box.

Unfortunately the company has not yet announced the exact region wise detailed release dates but the phablet is sure to hit the markets in USA, UK, Europe, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

The company will sell the Oppo N1 in a limited and standard edition, one running Oppo’s new Color OS and the other running popular ROM CyanogenMod. We believe Oppo will target the CyanogenMod edition in the US, where the ROM is most popular.

You can check out official Oppo N1 features here.

The Oppo N1 is a large phone and fairly thin plastic device coming in black and white. If we had to compare it to a well known device, that would be the Galaxy Note series of phablets, but the N1 is even larger and wider. It also weighs heavier at 213 grams, or 0.47 pounds.

It features a 5.9-inch 1080 x 1920 pixel full HD IPS display that is very sharp. Pixel density stands at 377ppi, way above the ‘Retina’ threshold.

Software-wise, we’re looking at Android 4.2 with Color OS, a custom skin made by Oppo. The N1 should also be able to run stock Android thanks to Cyanogenmod.

Under the hood, the Oppo N1 runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 600 chip running at 1.7GHz. There’s Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB of RAM on board. The presence of a whopping 3610mAh battery is definitely reassuring.

In terms of connectivity, the N1 supports all standards like dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

Oppo N1 Rotating Camera and Back Touch Panel
The big focus is of coure on camera. The Oppo N1 features a 13-megapixel camera that you can rotate 206 degrees so it can serve as both a rear and front facing snapper. There’s a CMOS sensor inside and a wide f/2.0 aperture. It is powered by a dedicated and specially designed Fujitsu imaging chip. The camera also supports small plug-in lenses enabling zoom levels of up to 10 times and 15 times.

Next, there is a unique touch panel on the back. It does not stand out in any way - it looks as if you are simply touching the plastic on the back with your fingers. In reality, you can simply slide your finger up or down the back touch panel to navigate around in menus and the web browser.

Oppo N1 Price

The Oppo N1 price om will start from $571 in US off contract, (about 3498 CNY in China). The company only offer with the white color with the priced at the moment.

Oppo is the first one to really bring expansion to the US and Europe with carrier involvement. We do not know how many carrier will jump on the opportunity to have an unknown brand on their service, but many Android fans know who Oppo are and love the Oppo Find 5.

This is a big move by Oppo and one that may backfire, Huawei, Lenovo and other huge brands have not been able to penetrate the European or US market with their mobile devices, with most still opting for Samsung or Apple as their device manufacturer.
