24th SITEX Singapore 2012

The 24th SITEX 2012 from November 22 to 25 at Singapore is the longest-running IT event. Consumers have been visiting the expo since 1988 to purchase electronic goods at producer direct prices and to talk one-on-one with the companies developing the latest technological innovations. Organizers expect to attract 900,000 local and international visitors through the doors to talk with the more than 500 consumer electronic product manufacturers in 2012.

8th LeWeb 2012

8th LeWeb 2012 in December at Paris, France is the biggest internet event in the European calendar, bringing together speakers, entrepreneurs, investors, the media, and technology buffs to discuss a "new web." Other important upcoming 2012 Science and Technology Events that has been announced or set to happen but for which the final dates are not yet known, includes:
  • Kuafu Moon Spacecraft set to be launched by China towards Moon.

  • Pleiades Supercomputer built by Intel and SGI for NASA's Ames Research Center will be completed, capable of performing 10 Petaflops (10 quadrillion floating point operations per second).

  • Sequoia Supercomputer built by IBM for the National Nuclear Security Administration will be completed, capable of performing 20 Petaflops (20 quadrillion floating point operations per second).

  • Solar Maximum of Solar Cycle 24 on sun in the 11-year sunspot cycle is forecast to occur. Solar Cycle 24 is regarded to have commenced January 2008, and on average will reach its peak of maximal sunspot activity around 2012. The period between successive solar maxima averages 11 years (the Schwabe cycle), and the previous solar maximum of Solar Cycle 23 occurred in 2000–2002. During the solar maximum the Sun's magnetic poles will reverse.
